How do I find the right toner cartridge for my printer?
The right toner cartridge is found by matching the printer’s exact model to a cartridge code, such as 12A, 337 or 925, and then checking that the printer is on that cartridge’s compatible list. This page shows where each detail comes from and which Lapcare cartridge is listed for which printers.
In short: Start with the exact printer model, not the brand. Read the cartridge code on the cartridge now in the printer, then check both against the compatible-printer list on the cartridge page. Aureval supplies Lapcare compatible toner cartridges, not original manufacturer cartridges.

What is the printer model number?
The printer model number is the exact model name of the printer, written in a form such as HP LaserJet 1020 or Canon MF216n, and it is the first detail to find.
The brand alone is not enough, because cartridges are matched to printer models and not to brands; a printer described only as “an HP” or “a Canon” cannot be matched to a cartridge. A printer manufacturer’s own support pages are a second place to check: Brother’s support pages, for example, give each machine model a Consumables & Accessories page that lists the toner order numbers for that model.
Where is the cartridge code printed?
The cartridge code is printed on the label of the cartridge the printer takes now, and the printer’s manual names the cartridge it uses.
The codes in the range listed here are 12A (also written 2612A), 88A (also written 388A), 137A, 166A, 925 and 337. The Brother cartridge is listed by printer series, with no cartridge code published.
Which Lapcare cartridge is listed for which printers?
Aureval Computers & IT Solutions, 302 Skylark Building, Nehru Place, New Delhi 110019, lists seven Lapcare cartridges, and the table gives each cartridge code with its Lapcare model code where one is published, the printers it is listed for, and whether it is listed with a chip.
| Cartridge code | Lapcare model code | Printers listed | Chip |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12A (2612A) | LPCC12A | HP LaserJet 1010, 1012, 1015, 1018, 1020, 1022, 1022n and 1022nw | Not published |

| 166A | Not published | HP Laser 1008a; HP Laser MFP 1136w, 1188a, 1188w and 1188nw | Listed with chip |
| 137A | Not published | HP LaserJet M208dw, M209dw, M211d and M211dw; HP LaserJet MFP M232dw, M233dw, M234dw, M236d, M236dw, M236sdn and M236sdw | Listed with chip |

Models are as published on each cartridge page. A model that does not appear on a cartridge’s list is not listed for that cartridge.
Does the cartridge code alone confirm the fit?
No: the cartridge code and the printer model both have to match, because each cartridge is listed for named printer models only.
Some codes are listed for printers from more than one brand; the 925, for example, is listed for HP LaserJet P1000-series and P1505 printers and for Canon LBP printers. The 88A and the 925 are also both listed for several of the same HP LaserJet P1000-series models, so the cartridge now in the printer and the exact model decide which one applies. Confirm before ordering.
Which details identify the right cartridge?
The printer brand and exact model, the cartridge code and whether a chip version applies identify the right cartridge, and a quantity for each printer model then sizes the order.
| Detail to send | Example from the listed range | What the detail confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Printer brand and exact model | HP LaserJet 1020, Canon MF216n or Brother HL-1110 | Which compatible-printer list the printer must appear on. |
| Cartridge code | 12A, 88A, 166A, 137A, 925 or 337 | Which cartridge the printer takes now, as shown on the cartridge’s label or in the printer’s manual. |
| Chip version | The 166A or the 137A | Whether the printer is on one of the two lists for cartridges listed with a chip. |
| Quantity | A count against each printer model | How many cartridges each line of the written quotation covers. |
What do buyers ask about finding a toner cartridge?
Buyers ask whether the brand is enough, what to do without a cartridge code, which type Aureval supplies, whether one cartridge fits several brands and which cartridges have a chip.
Is the printer brand enough to choose a toner cartridge?
Cartridges are listed for exact printer models, so the brand alone cannot identify one.
What if I do not know the cartridge code?
The printer model is enough. The fit is confirmed against the compatible-printer list before ordering.
Is a listed cartridge an original cartridge?
Aureval supplies Lapcare compatible toner cartridges, not original manufacturer cartridges. HP, Canon and Brother are trademarks of their respective owners.
Can one cartridge fit printers from different brands?
Some can. The 925 is listed for HP LaserJet P1000-series and P1505 printers and for Canon LBP printers, and each printer model still has to appear on that cartridge’s compatible list.
Which cartridges are listed with a chip?
Two of the seven: the 166A and the 137A. The remaining five are published without a chip.
Where can I check a specific printer model?
Every published model is in the HP, Canon and Brother printer toner compatibility tables. Related reading: what a toner cartridge with chip means. For office quantities, see the bulk toner supply page or the toner cartridges category page; all guides are on the buying guides page.
