Laptop Chargers and Power Adapters Compared — Apple, ASUS, Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Surface

The wrong charger is one of the most common reasons a laptop won’t charge properly. This guide explains what to match, then walks through every laptop charger and power adapter we supply — by brand, with the models each one suits.

In short: A laptop charger has to match three things: the connector, the voltage and enough wattage. Match the connector and voltage exactly, and choose a wattage equal to or higher than the original. USB-C chargers (65W to 165W here) suit laptops that charge over USB-C; barrel-pin chargers (65W to 230W) suit ASUS, Acer and Lenovo laptops; Apple, Surface and HP each have their own options. Send your laptop model with your enquiry and the fit is confirmed before ordering.

How to choose the right charger

1. Match the connector

Chargers come with USB-C, barrel pins of different sizes (such as 6.0mm x 3.7mm, 5.5mm x 1.7mm or 4.0mm x 1.7mm), MagSafe 2 and the Surface connector. The plug must match your laptop’s port exactly.

2. Match the voltage

Barrel-pin laptops expect a specific voltage — for example 19V, 19.5V or 20V — printed on the original charger’s label. Use the same voltage; USB-C laptops negotiate it automatically.

3. Choose enough wattage

Pick a wattage equal to or higher than the original. A laptop draws only what it needs, but an underpowered charger can charge slowly or not at all, especially under load.

4. Confirm the model

Read the rating on your current charger or the laptop’s specifications, or send the laptop model with your enquiry — the fit is confirmed before you order.

Apple: USB-C and MagSafe 2

Apple chargers are matched to the MacBook generation: older 13-inch Retina models use MagSafe 2, while current models charge over USB-C.

Apple 96W USB-C Power Adapter

96W over USB-C, positioned by Apple for the 14-inch MacBook Pro (2021 or later). The higher-output choice for a Pro-class laptop; it can also charge other USB-C devices.

Apple 35W Dual USB-C Power Adapter

35W with two USB-C ports that share power between two devices. Good for a desk where a phone and a laptop or tablet charge together, and it is compact enough for a travel bag.

Apple 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter

60W with the magnetic, T-shaped MagSafe 2 connector for 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. Choose it only if your Mac has the MagSafe 2 port.

Apple Magic Keyboard (USB-C)

Not a charger, but often ordered alongside Apple laptops: a compact, rechargeable Magic Keyboard with a USB-C port for Mac, iPad and iPhone.

Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a higher-wattage charger than the one that came with my laptop?

Generally yes, provided the voltage and connector match; the laptop draws only the power it needs. A lower-wattage charger can charge slowly or not at all.

Does the voltage need to match?

Yes. Match the voltage, such as 19.5V or 20V, and the connector size exactly; wattage can be equal or higher.

Can a USB-C charger charge any laptop?

Only laptops that charge over USB-C, and the charger must supply enough wattage: 65W chargers suit many thin laptops, while gaming and workstation laptops often need 150W or more.

How do I find which charger my laptop needs?

Check the rating label on the original charger or the laptop's specifications for voltage, wattage and connector type, or send your laptop model with the enquiry.

Do you provide a GST invoice for ITC?

Yes, every order, HSN and tax breakup included.

Ordering for a team
